    Start Exercising Again!

    Published on May 9th, 2017

From cold weather to a busy schedule, there are many reasons why one can take a break from exercising-we’ve all been there! However, it is important to get back into the swing of things after a break, as exercising keeps you healthy. Fortunately, there are many ways to ease back into a routine that won’t overwhelm or overwork you!

    Just Start

The hardest part about exercising is just beginning. By starting with something easy, such as a brisk 20-minute walk or a mild ab workout, you can ease back into a routine. Or, you could simply commit to five minutes! In setting this as your time limit, you won’t feel overwhelmed, but after five minutes, you will likely just keep going.

    Prepare Yourself

When you expect something of yourself, you are more likely to do it. Write down the days you’ll be working out in your planner, and stick to it! Additionally, the night before, prepare your gym bag. That way, you won’t have to worry about getting up early, and you won’t have any excuses. Also, a great way to keep the motivation going is to have a workout buddy. You two can count on each other to not skip workouts, and to send each other reminders!

    Think Outside The Gym

Oftentimes, the idea of going to the gym is enough of a turn-off that people do not exercise. However, now that we are heading into warmer weather, take advantage of the great outdoors! Take a bike ride down Lakeshore Path, sign up for a 5K, go to an outdoor workout class, etc. Mix up your workouts and you’ll be much more likely to want to exercise. To get started, sign up for a one-month workout challenge, a weekly volleyball league, or something else!

Overall, your health is extremely important, whether your heart health or foot health. Get in a regular workout routine and see how much better you feel!
